A wonderful herb for respiratory health, especially a productive cough where it thins and loosens excess mucus in the lungs and airways. A key ingredient in our respiratory tonics, menthol crystals are derived from distilling and freezing the oils in peppermint and other mint varieties. It interacts with the cooling receptors in the nasal passages, throat and bronchial tubes to provide the sensation opening of the airways for easy breathing. When ingested, inhaled or applied topically to the skin, it has the sensation of cooling and is often used to cool skin in preparations for the chest and joints.
Manuka honey is unique to New Zealand and renowned for its high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO), the factor scientifically researched for its potent antimicrobial activity.
