3 Immune-Supportive Recipes for Back to School
As the school year kicks off, keeping your kids healthy is just as important as keeping up with their busy activities! With exposure to new environments, different germs, and the demands of a busy schedule, a strong immune system is key. The best way to support their well-being? Nourishing, nutrient-dense foods that taste great and are fun to make!
We’ve rounded up three easy and delicious immune-supportive recipes using our popular Vitamin C – safe for the whole family over 1 years! Plus, they’re simple enough for kids to help with, making healthy eating an enjoyable experience!
1. Immune-Loving Chia Pudding
4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups preferred milk

3 tbsp chia seeds
-
1 tsp Harker Herbals Vitamin C (check back of bottle for accurate age appropriate amount)

1 tbsp maple syrup or honey if over 1 years (optional)

Fresh berries and yogurt for topping
Method:
- In a bowl, mix together milk, chia seeds, Harkers Vitamin C and sweetener if using.
- Stir well and let sit for 5 minutes, then stir again to prevent clumping.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight until thick.
- Serve with yogurt and fresh berries.

2. Mango & Mandarin Vitamin C Roll-ups
Vitamin C plays a vital role in immune defence, while gelatin supports gut lining and digestion.
6-8 servings
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups of frozen mango
- 2 mandarins
- 3 tbsp of Manuka honey
- Juice of half a lemon
- 1 cup of water
- 3 tbsp of gelatin
- 3-4 tsps Harker Herbals vitamin C (check back of bottle for accurate age appropriate amount)
Optional Raspberry sprinkle: A small handful of crumbled frozen raspberries
Method:

Add all ingredients except the gelatin and Harkers Herbals Vitamin C to a blender and blitz till all combined.
- Pour the mixture into a small pot and place on a medium heat, once the mixture has started to boil, reduce down and sprinkle in your gelatin and use a whisk to mix through.
- Pour into a jug. Add in your Vitamin C and mix through.

Line a large baking tra y with baking paper. Pour in your mixture and smooth out to be as thin as possible.
- Sprinkle over raspberries if using and then place into the fridge for 3 hours to set.

Once set, you can either cut these into roll ups or grab some fun shapes and cut them into ginger bread men, stars, hearts etc.

Store these in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. These are is delicious cold, so if you can, pop your little ones lunchbox in the fridge at daycare or with a cooler bag at school.

3. Kids Immunity Muesli Bites
These little bites are full of protein, fibre, omega 3’s & 6 and healthy fats. The best little bite for on the go, keeping your mini/s active at the park or post daycare / school pick up. You can make these nut-free too if you need to.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of oats
- 1/2 cup of walnuts or cashews (alternative pumpkin or sunflower seeds to make NF)
- 1 medium carrot (grated)
- 7 medjool dates (soak your dates for 2 hours or overnight)
- 1.5 tbsp of peanut or almond butter (swap to 2 tbsp of tahini to make NF)
- 1/4 cup of hemp seeds
- 1 tsp of cinnamon
- 1 tsp of vanilla
- 3 tsp Harker Herbals Vitamin C (check back of bottle for accurate age appropriate amount)

3 tsp Harker Herbals Immune Build (check back of bottle for accurate age appropriate amount)
Optional: Add carob chocolate and coconut oil, melt and drizzle on top.
Method:
- Add all ingredients to a food processor and blitz till all broken down
- Add the mixture to a small tray with baking paper and press down really firmly.
- Melt your chocolate & coconut oil together (if using) and drizzle all over the pressed down mixture.
- Store these in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 7 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Just FYI - They freeze really well!
